It is my absolute goal to find the visual, character and true essence of that person within my art.

We humans, have an exceptionally strong fascination and mental engagement with famous faces. Our brains are wired to recognize and process faces in a unique way, and when it comes to famous faces, this engagement is even stronger. The human brain is wired to form emotional connections with iconic faces and the individuals they represent. These emotional connections may be based on a recognizable affinity to a face such Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix or Ludwig von Beethoven, or admiration for their accomplishments, appreciation for their talent, or simply a sense of familiarity and comfort associated with their presence in our lives or living rooms.
Iconic faces say something about us.
To hang a famous face in your home, is to see the face in a similar way that you might relate to a brand you like. Our brains are highly specialized for processing visual information. When we look at an object such as a famous face, our brain will rapidly process information about its shape, the tiny but distinct ratios of an individual's facial features, iconic looks or images, colors, textures, eyes and hair types, and other visual features. This information is then compared to our existing knowledge and memories, along with associations and affinities to enable us to recognize the face and create a feeling or emotion. This process is complex and multifaceted, involving a range of cognitive, emotional, and social factors - but is what makes us human.
We create parasocial associations with famous faces.
Humans have instant recognition and immediate attraction towards famous faces because of the way our brains store and retrieve memories and information that is important to us. When we encounter a familiar face, our brains are able to quickly retrieve these associated mental representations and schemas. This can lead to a strong mental engagement, as we feel a sense of familiarity and connection with the person associated with that face. We often form parasocial relationships with these famous faces. Parasocial relationships are one-sided relationships where one person (in this case, the viewer) feels a strong connection with a familiar public figure they have an affinity for.

ABOUT THE SERIES; I work hard to create art that is truly unique. My Iconic Faces Collection is inspired by the people who have made a difference to humanity, and changed the world in some way. These are some of humanity's most inspiring people, and also some of the most recognizable faces in human history. I believe, my art will lift you up, and will inspire you, every day. This Iconic Faces Collection is designed to feel deeply personal, highly original, and meaningful to viewers, engaging them to connect with the artwork on a deep emotional level.
WHAT 'IS' ICONIC FACES ART?; My Iconic Faces Art emphasizes bold design, visually engaging famous faces, vibrant color, with a loose form, and texture. These are not fine art in the true sense, but rather, paintings designed with feeling and emotion, the opposite of the deep traditional structure and perfect facial representations of the old masters. Emotion and feeling is my primary goal with this Collection, so my work is designed to be noticed, and to elicit a palpable emotion when viewed. This provides a way of experiencing art to encourage deep thinking, engagement, and mental connection on a visceral level, as an alternative to the constraints of traditional form-based portrait artworks.
WHAT IS 'UNIQUE' ABOUT MY ICONIC FACES ART?; My art is created to be experienced. My purpose is not to create a picture of an experience, but to create the experience itself. These faces should feel familiar, but inspiring. I carefully think each piece through, before I commit to beginning the painting. I research the individual deeply about their life's work, so I can better understand who they were/are, and hope that I can push some of that understanding into my artwork. Through my 30+ years of corporate design and my years as an artist, I have developed a keen understanding of what the human brain prefers in design and style, something that is able to manifest itself onto my canvas's through my creative thinking and my techniques, honed over many years. I typically use many, many layers, and multiple contrasting colors to create a combination of thought-provoking engagement and meaningful intrinsic design. Additionally, much of my art is big, so is able to create a real impact, a statement, and a larger-than-life personality to add to a room.

The faces I paint in this series, are some of the most iconic faces in human history. This Collection incorporates bold colors that will build a foundation of the uplifting energy of love and vibrancy to your home.
MEDIUM:
Archival-quality, Level 3 professional quality, gallery wrapped, 100% natural cotton, heavy/medium duty, gesso primed canvas. 100% cotton, with acid-free white acrylic gesso, wrapped around all sides, and secured in place on the backside of the 1 ½ inch kiln-dried wooden stretcher bar frame held in place with a flexible spline to create a tight stretch. I typically use Liquitex Level 3 Professional Grade sustainable acrylic paints, These are thick, high viscosity, pigment-rich professional acrylic colors, with a high concentration of lightfast artist-quality pigment with a satin finish to give a no-fade permanent color. Liquitex products are certified with the Art and Creative Materials Institute, Inc. Liquitex as a company has pushed a net reduction in total CO2 emissions, and aims to be fully carbon neutral by 2030.
ORIGINAL WORK: My original artwork is one-of-a-kind. My pieces are developed to be collector originals, using high-quality, light-fast Liquitex pigments and sustainable materials that will look good for 50-100+ years in gallery conditions and in no/low direct sunlight conditions. Liquitex paints are mostly all ASTM I or II and are considered permanent and lightfast.

My reproductions have several grades of quality, but can include museum-quality reproductions durable enough to last for over 100 years. The reproduction process includes UltraChrome HD inks for a wide, rich color gamut range ensuring that the print matches the exact color fidelity of the original piece of artwork. I always do my best to ensure the best materials and reproduction methods to ensure that the reproductions look and feel great, and are true to the original.

INSPIRATION:
This artwork was inspired by my lifelong love of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. I painted this portrait of pure swagger in collaboration with one of my sons, Pierce. I have loved and followed the Rolling Stones music and their personas since I was a young teenage boy, and have always especially loved the swagger and persona of Mick Jagger. Their music just speaks to my soul. To me Mick Jagger is a metaphor for a life lived on the edges, wrapped in an incredibly high level of artistic creativity, and pure style. I wanted to capture the essence of Mick, confident, charismatic, and rebellious. He exudes a sense of raw energy and intensity that has captivated millions of people around the world. His flamboyant and often provocative style, both on and off stage, has created him as a cultural icon. Mick Jagger throughout his life has always maintained a sense of authenticity and humility, staying true to his roots and remaining dedicated to his craft. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest frontmen in the history of rock music, and his persona has had a significant impact on popular culture and music.

Marilyn Monroe remains one of the most iconic celebrities of all time. She is a global brand and her face is highly recognizable figure the world over, with a distinctive look and style that has become a cultural reference point. Marilyn Monroe was a symbol of beauty, glamour, and sex appeal, which are all themes that have long fascinated people, and themes that are still highly relevant in today's world. Her tragic life and a mysterious death, have also made her a subject of fascination for many millions, and her story has been the inspiration for numerous works of art that explore themes such as fame, beauty, and mortality. I painted her in bold colors of LOVE and energy to incorporate LOVE frequency colors to build a foundation of the energy of love for those you love, and for your home.

David Bowie is a highly acclaimed cultural icon, and Creative Giant, recognized the world over. I believe he is one of our greatest icons ever. He was one of the most human and most alien of rock artists, turning to face the strange, speaking to the glam, the individualist, the culturally progressive, or even the freak in everyone, creating his universal appeal as one of the most influential artists of all time. Planet Earth is blue, said David Bowie, the greatest rock star who ever fell to this or any other world. He was the hottest tramp, the slinkiest vagabond, the Young American, the space oddity, and the prettiest star who ever shouted “You’re not alone!” He remains his own unique brand today, instantly recognizable, a highly innovative and influential musician, constantly pushing the boundaries of popular music with his unique style and experimentation. He was known for his distinctive voice, theatrical performances, and ability to seamlessly blend different genres of music. Bowie was also one of the most prominent fashion icons in history, with a constantly evolving and unconventional sense of style that inspired. His alter ego Ziggy Stardust, in particular, became a cultural phenomenon and an enduring symbol of style, androgyny and artistic expression. He was a trailblazer for LGBTQ rights, challenging societal norms and pushing for greater acceptance and visibility of queer identities, and he used his platform to promote equality and inclusivity.
